Working With Traumatized Children by Dr. Bruce Perry

A Note to my Chicago School students:
  • Clinical Collaboration or Service-Learning Project? Interested in a collaboration for a short-term community based clinical experience, group leading experience, or service-learning projects? Feel free to contact me and if there is something that I am working on that fits your interest. Before you contact me, organize your thoughts with regard to the kind of service-learning project or clinical experience that you are seeking to develop or participate in. Approximate the number of hours per week that you need or want, including the desired or required level of supervision or collaboration that you need. We can set up a meeting to discuss your areas of interest and where they fit in to the various research or clinical projects that I may involved in.

  • Volunteers, seeking to add a supervised group leading experience to your CV?  I am currently developing short-term clinical workshops (i.e., psychoeducational DBT skills), parenting group workshops, and recruiting members for proposed experiential therapy groups for the fall. Contact me for more information.

  • Volunteers, seeking clinical research experience for your CV?
  • I am currently looking for one or two research assistants to assist me in conducting literature reviews, case study research, professional networking and multidisciplinary case consultation, and potential opportunities for APA-style article submission. Volunteer research will be on a very flexible basis (estimated at 10-12h/week commitment), and in exchange I can provide recommendation letters, references, or a certificate of hours or evaluations for academic credit.
  • Current research topics that I am working on include:
    a) the role of women's health issues on mental health
    b) neurobiological responses in relationship addiction
    c) alternative treatments for PTSD with psychosis/dissociation phenomena
    d) neurotransmitter activation in process addictions and related psychopharmacological and behavioral treatments to treat symptoms, urges, and acting out behaviors.
